Another Successful District Level Workshop in Matara.
(23 - 08 - 2010) HomeNet Sri Lanka conducted a district level workshop in Matara on 13th August 2010. The workshop was focused on raising the awareness among organizations working for Home Based Workers and for individual Home Based Workers regarding the need on "Implementation of National Policy for Home Based Workers in Sri Lanka."
The Hon. Member of the Parliament Buddhika Pathirana attended the workshop by special invitation of HomeNet Sri Lanka as the guest of honor. Read the full article

One Day Interactive Dialogue on "Policy Recommendations and Clarification of Home Based Workers' Related Terms in Sri Lankan Context"
(20- 08 -2010) HomeNet Sri Lanka arranged a one day interactive dialogue on "Policy Recommendations and clarification of Home Based Workers' related terms in Sri Lankan context". Various academics and professionals took part in this intellectual dialogue creating a multi stakeholder view on developed policy recommendations for Home Based Workers.
This is one of the important catalysts to the National Level workshop to be held at the latter part of the year. Read the full article

Dilanthe Withanage, Director of HomeNet Sri Lanka appoints as a Member of National Committee on Women.
(20 -08 - 2010) Recently Mr. Dilanthe Withanage, Director of HomeNet Sri Lanka was appointed as one of the members of the National Committee on Women, on the recommendation of the Minister of Women Empowerment for a period of four years.
At the first meeting of the National Committee on Women, Dilanthe Withanage explained about Home Based Workers,Issues faced by the Home Based Workers of Sri Lanka, ILO C177, and Kathmandu Deceleration and submitted Proposed Policy Recommendations for Home Based Workers in Sri Lanka.
During the meeting Director of HomeNet Sri Lanka emphasized the fact that 80% of the Home Based Workers in Sri Lankan society are represented by women and those women play roles of housewife and mother while getting engaged in some form of earning for the family. And he also discussed the critical issues faced by Home Based Workers and potential solutions to overcome those to empower women engaged in Home Based Woking.

Leader of the Sri Lanka’s Communist Party, Hon. Minister DEW Gunasekara expresses his view to HomeNet Sri Lanka
(24 - 07 -2010) Yesterday, July 23rd HomeNet Sri Lanka met with Hon. Minister of Rehabilitation and Prisons DEW Gunasekara. He was one of the pioneers of the labor force movement in Sri Lanka, one of the few who fought against workers rights for very long time period.
Director of HomeNet Sri Lanka, Dilanthe withanage handed over the policy recommendations to the minster and explained how the background was set to such recommendations for informal workers of type Home Based.
HomeNet Sri Lanka initiates dialogues with University of Colombo
(21-07-2010) HomeNet Sri Lanka met Prof. Amarabandu, Head of Department of Demographics and Prof. Siddisena from University of Colombo yesterday, 21st July 2010. The purpose of the inter institutional visit is to initiate dialogues between two to formulates ongoing sustainable ties.
Director of HomeNet Sri Lanka, Dilantha Withanage, initiated the discussion round by introducing HomeNet Sri Lanka, he elaborated on ILO C 177 convention, Home Based Workers, Kathmadu Declaration, HomeNet network and also past and present programs done by HomeNet Sri Lanka..
